Humbling...
Jun. 20th, 2020 09:27 amIt's amazing when your kid winds up being good at something you're not.
My eldest, for example, has a solid grasp of colour, pattern and how to coordinate them in a way I do not and never have. I think she's better at it than I am *or* my wife is.
In other words, that is clearly a skill she picked up *without* us teaching it, because she knows things about it neither of us do.
Practice is a lot of it. Perhaps Krissy or I could be as good if we practiced as much as she does? But it's clear that we haven't.
The kids are, increasingly, little independent humans. They happen to have been descended from, and raised by, Krissy and me. But it's clearer every day that that's just a little historical detail rather than the central fact of their existence.
