noahgibbs: Me and my teddy bear at Karaoke after a day of RubyKaigi in HIroshima in 2017 (Default)

Clean, dry clothes. Hot showers. It's only recently that these things have achieved a pornography-like status in my fantasy life. I'm not even all that big on pornography, I'm just feeling *really* good about dry clothes and hot showers lately.

Have I mentioned that I occasionally take long motorcycle trips in the rain? And that leather cheerfully absorbs a large amount of very cold water? I should try that PVC rainsuit at some point, which will make things either better or worse.

And now, zombie humor about shouting.

Heh. I know exactly ow you feel. Right now, I'd kill for a drier-warm and fluffy towel that smells super-clean.

I suppose not one person offered to let you come over and get a hot shower or use their washing machine. :-P

Still, good to hear that you have those little luxuries again.

I've had it with them, I've had it with you, I've had it with all this -- I want ROOM SERVICE! I want the club sandwich. I want the cold Mexican beer. I want a ten-thousand dollar-a-night hooker!! I want my shirts laundered like they do at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo.

Yesterday it wouldn't have helped -- the problem was the two fifty-mile bike trips, coincidentally to the home of the first person who had offered me the use of her shower while I had no hot water :-)

Did you offer? I'm not remembering, which doesn't mean you didn't.

No, I didn't offer. I haven't been tracking your journal too carefully, I guess, cause I missed the entries about the hot water heater exploding.

But had I known, I would have and you certainly could have asked.

If I thought about it and thought I could have gotten away with it, I would have offered. ;)

I just can't believe you didn't have hot water for so long.

I don't know offhand who wrote this, but thanks! :-)

It was only a couple of days. Saturday 'til Monday evening, I guess. And apparently there was briefly hot water on Monday, but the new heater was leaking massively and the apartment manager shut it off.
