The car's ready. S'good. I hope the hot water heater is too. So shortly, car stuff will get into full swing. I'm not looking forward to car shopping, but it's not any worse than things have generally been lately.

Looks like getting hazard insurance for the house is going to be ugly. Fair enough. Need to find out some other things about it. Nothing specifically about my house, it's just that getting hazard insurance is apparently nastier than usual now.

Seeing a movie tonight, and I won't know which until I get there. That's a little scary, but the worst that can happen is that I see a bad movie.

If you like suspense movies, I recommend The Ring. It is really well made and fairly true to the original Japanese version save for the Horror origin story. There are some icky bits but I can't tell you too much about them because I had my hands over my face during them. :)

I'll keep it in mind... I'm not the one picking the movie, though.

Ooh! Relevant webcomic link.

Heh. I saw that. I think being forced to watch her would be deadly. :)

At first I thought you meant the urban legend horror story, then I realized you mean the part of the story that covers why the tape was made. All better now.

I found that, other than the origin, the main difference was subtlty. The japanese version was a lot more subtle. The american version made me jump more and I was in greater fear of Bad Things happening to the characters, but at the same time I thought that the story was cheapened by some of the things they did to make it scary, for example the random bugs and the creepy son.

And, for what it's worth, I saw the Japanese version on Thursday and the American version on Sunday, so it was still fresh in my mind.

Hello! I saw the Japanese version the Saturday before the American version. I think I preferred the American in the fact that there was less reliance on the psychic of the husband. I still haven't decided which one of the kids I liked better. I liked the matter-of-factness of the Japanese one but I really liked the way the American kid reacted to the knowledge of what his mom had done at the end. (Sorry for the obfuscation. Don't want to put in any spoilers.)

I will agree. I didn't like the random bugs. That was just yucky.

*nods* i agree. the way the american boy reacted was priceless. "You.... Don't you understand...." *important bits of conversation have been edited out*

But he was just creepy, otherwise. Not scary creepy, just unnatural creepy.
