I really do just burn out hard occasionally. It doesn't help that this past week has been entirely decaffeinated. I'm hoping that a relatively easy week this week will let me swing back into next week feeling better.

I'm not doing badly, exactly. I just have a bunch of could-be-productive time and my mind is saying, "screw you, I'm off duty."

Oh dear. But why the no coffee?

I feel you, though. I should be working on my freelance project, and my mind is like, fuck you, no. This has been a week from hell and we're going to bake some banana bread & read some damn internet!

No caffeine this week because at my last medical checkup, my blood pressure edged up from "eh, probably fine" (182-ish) to "borderline probably not fine" (189). I realized a week or so later that 1) I had had a Foosh Mint that morning and 2) many people find caffeine raises blood pressure by 5-10 points.

On Monday, I go in again after another round of testing for various bad-stuff-that-causes-high-blood-pressure, so far all negative. If it's back to normal, I have marginally high but healthy blood pressure and caffeine spikes it a little.

If not, I can worry a bit more.

And yeah, my mind is doing the same thing.

Book stuff is actually going well in several ways. I should be writing more good blog posts, doing a bit of advertising, shoring up analytics on the sales site... And no. My mind says not this week. I'm putting together a user survey and that's plenty.

Probably for the best. I haven't had a vacation in well over a year and this is my most idle week in a long time.

A BP of 180+ is not normal. If your blood pressure has ever been lower than this, I'm going to encourage you to get cleared, and then start doing some more regular exercise. Even just walking regularly. There ARE certain people who do seem to have high BPs for no good reason, but it's not typical. And then there's me. Mine's typically 105/65. Let's just say, I get dizzy real easy.

Sorry, typo. 149, not 189.

And I went down at the checkup from 149 to 125. Not sure if that was exercise, lack of job stress or lack of caffeine, but all those things occurred, so it could have been any of them.

hooray for typos!

i was gonna say "189? and you've not blown a gasket? are you an underachiever?"
but now, i can't dammit.

i run exactly the other way, like blacksheep.
sometimes, the auto-bp-machine goes "beep" and says i'm dead!

always makes me laugh, 'cause i'm not, you know.

It's ok sometimes. Today I am eating pizza and drinking wine. I'm tired. I work and go to school and look for a new job.

Sometimes you have to stop and drink wine and eat pizza.

Regroup.
