noahgibbs: Me and my teddy bear at Karaoke after a day of RubyKaigi in HIroshima in 2017 (what statement? I like little girls?)

Shanna takes most of her unicorn characters when playing around from "She-Ra". They wind up with names like Star, Starwind and Stardancer. Today she had a new one, and was apparently out of She-Ra-esque "Star" names...

The baby doll *riding* the unicorn got a different name as well. So we were treated to Crystal Dancer and her unicorn named "Starbucks".

Shanna goes back and forth. Sometimes she's *extremely* girly. Sometimes she's off sword-fighting robots in the back yard (that's She-Ra based - so is it still girly?). And sometimes she's running back and forth between being scared by giant monsters and hunting them down.

Of course, giant monsters could be replaced at any point (including mid-run) with demons, pirates or grasshoppers, depending what she's been watching recently.

We have friends with a son about Shanna's age, and the pressure on the parents and the little boy for non-girly behavior is pretty fierce. I'm happy to be raising daughters (certainly in the toddler/preschool stage) - there seems to be a lot less pressure/judgement about them choosing or not choosing girly things.
