I spent a significant amount of time this evening digging a sliver of glass out of my heel. I didn't think I got it, but it hurts less now so maybe I did. Either way: suck.

It also reminded me that maybe I should carry a pocketknife.

I think it's more, If I've got a penknife, I might be able to do excavations with regards to this sliver of glass, and get it out in a simpler/easier fashion.

Agh, glass in foot. Yipe.

Stop doing that, already.

Yeah, it's the excavations thing rather than intimidating the glass.

I had not, it turns out, successfully removed it yesterday eve. I did so about ten minutes ago.

Did you actually use a pocketknife when you removed it ten minutes ago?

Nope. Tweezers and nail scissors (which work fine for the appropriate wound-making and -widening).

I *do* wish I'd had a smaller, sharper knife than I had available, though.

Hell, we can all live in caves and rub sticks together for fire.

That *would* reduce the amount of glass in our dwellings :-)

"Stop doing that, already"

Working on it. I accidentally broke one of my little port glasses a month or so ago. I was putting it up on the high shelf I store them on and it dropped. I had thought this was part of that glass, but apparently not -- it was very long, and very thin and oddly dark-colored, while the port glasses were entirely clear (you may recall them from the food party).

I'm not sure where a fragment of brown (or perhaps slightly red or purple) glass would have come from on my kitchen floor. It was very pretty. I threw it away anyway, but that was because it stabbed me before introducing itself. Bastard glass-sliver.

:-)
