noahgibbs: Me and my teddy bear at Karaoke after a day of RubyKaigi in HIroshima in 2017 (hobbies need fewer stigmas)

On the evening of September 21st, I'm going to be sitting around and coding (I can see the future. Trust me on this). For all of you geeks who miss college, and more than one person programming in a room at the same time, I invite you to join me. This will occur more than once. But the first time will be September 21st.

You're not required to code *with* me, or on any particular thing. I'm happy to talk about geeky stuff (specifically programming-flavored geeky) and even a little non-geeky stuff, but primarily this is about coding. So bringing a project will help, though we may have a spare machine or two that you could use if you don't need any very specific setup. Still, bringing a project will help a *lot* :-)

My lovely wife will probably not be home. So, y'know, don't expect to do anything that requires her presence.

We called these GNIs (Geeks' Nights In) They were often co-scheduled with GNOs (Girls' Nights Out) even though some of the guys went out with the girls and man of the girls geeked out.

Hrmm... maybe? I've been farting around with Lua and stuff and I tend to code at home with the boy (who doubles as instructor/partner/bug fixer) but it might be interesting to do it as a party type environment.

Sounds good. I'd be happy to have you over. No clue how many people will actually show, but I'm up for finding out :-)

Woohoo!

I'd very much like to join you, but I have an old friend staying with us for a few nights, including the 21st, so I really shouldn't (unless, actually, he wanted to come too, which I suppose is a possibility...). In any case, I'll hope to make a future edition. I've got my project all set, and just need some time to work on it. :-)

P.S.- Lua totally rocks.

Sounds good. I'm sure we'll have more later on. I'll let you (and other folks) know before they happen. It's likely to be an "every other Friday" thing, 'cause Krissy is looking for chances to go dancing, and Friday Night Waltz happens every other Friday.

If I lived within an hour of you, I would be there. I miss coding in a cluster.

mm, I've missed this too. I'm sorry I can't make it.
