noahgibbs: Me and my teddy bear at Karaoke after a day of RubyKaigi in HIroshima in 2017 (it's the monkey in the pants)

It's been awhile since I've posted. Not much to say lately, I guess... So, random update.

The girl and I are headed to Avenue Q tonight in the city -- should be lovely.

Work has been pretty unremarkable.

We've been pretty booked lately, socially. Part of this is that the girl will resume teaching when the next school year starts, quite soon here.

I've been reading the Kushiel books, finally. I'm only a book and a half in, so no spoilers please ;-)

How are you liking them? The covers keep on catching my eye, but I keep on not buying them because my reading queue is deep enough already.

The first book is wonderful and amazing, and the second book shows strong signs of being the same. I tend to really like politics and intrigue fiction, and there's a lot of that in these books. Then there's, um, the reason the books are usually recommended, and that's thoroughly hot too ;-)

Yay! How was Avenue Q? We're going to see it on my birthday in a couple of weeks...(we've listened to the soundtrack before, so we're pretty psyched for it).

If you liked the soundtrack, I imagine you'll love it. I did :-)

The play, not surprisingly, fills in some gaps in the soundtrack which can be pretty confusing if you don't already know the plot. The characters remain just as endearing, and often more so.

You'll also probably be glad you listened to the soundtrack first because a lot of little clever dialog bits can be harder to hear in the theater, or at least they were in the Orpheum.
