Jun. 4th, 2002 05:13 pmInteresting. Looking back at my old logs from Black Oyster, I switched from writing my own server to doing a DGD MUDLib about a year ago. The first very simple DGD MUDLib was checked in on June 18th of last year. That means I've been seriously doing the DGD thing for just about a year now.
Zero to the definitive primary source of documentation and code: well under a year. That's pretty cool. Phantasmal doesn't actually look too bad at the one year mark all things considered. I've got a second developer just starting out. It runs. You can build in it. It's not good for large-scale collaboration yet but it's probably sufficient for a basic social MUD. The documentation remains excellent.
I can live with that. I'm certainly on track to do better than ScryMUD in the same period of time :-) But then, it took him five years to build a serviceable Diku replacement, so maybe that's not the best example.
