Jun. 2nd, 2005 12:14 amBack from the Allergy Elimination party. Looks like we only got
eastbaygreg,
bootkitten and
plymouth. Unfortunately
bootkitten had a problem that the guy teaching couldn't figure out. I worked on
plymouth, so I'm curious how that'll go. And I'll also hope to hear a report from
eastbaygreg on what he worked on.
We broke up into groups of three to practice the technique. The third guy in our group was actually really interesting/amusing. Granted, I'm *very* glad I didn't have him as an actual paying client in an actual hypnotherapy practice. Plus we took turns, and I went first, so I kinda foisted him off on
plymouth by default, and it's not like she had any previous experience in NLP or hypnotherapy.
For those of you who have been wondering how a phobia-curing technique would work on allergies - you'll be happy to know that this was basically very similar to the phobia technique, if slightly more heavyweight. So apparently they think a phobia-curing technique *does* work on allergies, pretty much. We'll wait for reports to come in and see how well it works, I guess.

allergies

Or perhaps it is simply that when we did the process we never actually covered the face-touching part such that I am now in a state of cat hair in the air and vicinity and on my hands being OK but cat hair directly on my face is still too much. If it is the latter then I am at least somewhat better off.

Sounds like a good partial success, and probably fixable.

Date: 2005-06-02 05:24 pm (UTC)I can have things like frozen yogurt with no problem, but with that the cultures aren't active any longer. Things which actually have yogurt in them, like a mango lassi? I can have a few sips that taste wonderful. But once I take that third sip or so, it starts to taste too much like yogurt and I can't have any more.
S'weird, and I've been convinced for a while that it's just a psychosomatic throwback to knowing that it's bad for me (me as an individual). But I'm no longer lactose intolerant, and well...yogurt's healthy and something I'd like to be able to have. If nothing else, I'm intellectually interested in why I have this weird inability to consume yogurt.

Date: 2005-06-02 08:28 pm (UTC)I am willing to play guinea pig :) (Would have totally gone for the allergy-curing one, but I don't have any allergies that can readily be checked for... spider bites and amoxycillan aren't really something you can bring to class :)
