I think putting a solar sail and some large engines as steering jets onto mars and just nudging the earth in the right direction until it falls into the sun should work. I figure it should be feasable by 2100 or so.

You should suggest it! He does mention the possibility of accelerating Mars with that in mind, but he's talking about using only rockets rather than a solar sail.

There's recent debate over whether solar sails would even work. One critic claims that they'd primarily act like heat exchangers, and whatever propulsion could be derived would just stop once the sail reached ambient temperature - which, given the average temperature of space, wouldn't take that long at all.
