When I filled out my employment application two months ago with Broadcom, the current employer, I was very mildly frustrated that it contained a lot of questions I considered redundant, since it was already on my resume. But hey, that's employment.

Now they've lost the original and have only a faxed copy, so they need me to fill another one out, by hand. This would be, for those counting, twice-redundant. Especially considering that they already have a copy.

At least you didn't have the HR chick rapping you over the knuckles, making you fill out the application again because she couldn't read your handwriting, like resilient did when she started her last job :-)

Oh come on, this could be fun. You're already hired, they aren't going to fire you, just tell them you used to be a famous circus performer/undersea explorer/lesbian cartoonist/giraffe Fill in dead presidents and the CEO of the company for your references. They get the true you this time. :)
