noahgibbs: Me and my teddy bear at Karaoke after a day of RubyKaigi in HIroshima in 2017 (Default)

Just realized I never did post about this.

I work at TapWave. I get an employee purchase discount as part of that. We make a really cool little handheld called the Zodiac. It's a PalmOS-based gaming/multimedia device, and unusually beefy for same, with a great display. Normally it goes for $300 or $400 depending on whether you want 32MB or 128MB of RAM. With employee discount we can get them for $250 or $300 in those same configurations. We can also get (I think) a more modest discount on accessories and software.

So if anybody I know is just itchin' for one, they should let me know. We're more than happy to sell them :-)

[livejournal.com profile] deyo's skills match pretty perfectly with what Tapware's QA department would be doing, I'm sure. (He has worked at Palm, Sega, Leapfrog.) Would sharing his resume with you be useful to either of you?

We're not really hiring right now, if memory serves. Probably not 'til March or a little before. You can check the web site and see what's open when, but right now there's not much.

The web site's just got a management position, which isn't really his strong point, but I'll remind him to go look again in March. His Leapfrog contract will probably go that far, anyhow.

Thanks. :)

There's a program called something like "Missing Sync", with which a Zodiac will work just fine with a Mac.

I'll keep the ipod thing in mind, though it's not currently looking very likely. Thanks, though!

Tempting. I'm ashamed to admit that I wouldn't use it for gaming (though it sounds handy for photos). Anyhoo, my palm is slowly dying, so I'm going to need a new PDA. I just recently started checking out my options, in a very vague, non-intensive way. Are there any time constraints on your offer?

Nope, no time constraints that I know of. Actually, there's not currently a built-in or SDIO camera you can use with the TapWave, though it looks gorgeous when displaying image files.

I don't know how soon the "no compatible SDIO camera" situation is going to be fixed. No clue.
