Brezsny this week on Gemini:

After years of occupation by the Soviet Union, Georgia became an independent republic in 1991. Its new leader was Eduard Shevardnadze, who over the next 12 years brought the country to the brink of bankruptcy and became the most hated man in public life. Last November he relinquished power in the face of a "revolution of roses," a bloodless insurrection led by protestors brandishing flowers. Two months later, one of the leading "rose revolutionaries," 36-year-old Mikhail Saakashvili, was elected Georgia's new president. I suggest that you Geminis make Saakashvili your role model for the next two months. You've got a lot of status quo to overthrow, and the best way to do it is with your version of flower power.

Hm. Now *this* I need to think on.

Except, of course, that Saakashvili's political campaign was bankrolled by U.S. billionaires and supported by those who wanted to build pipelines through Georgia.

Maybe the real lesson here is that you need someone with a vested interest in overthrowing your status quo to be your sugar daddy and fund your bloodless revolution.

Hm. I know a number of people with a vested interest in overthrowing my status quo. But none of them are likely to make good sugar daddies...

A sugar daddy with a vested interest in overthrowing your status quo? You can ask that here, but I'm going to avoid the obvious response... [livejournal.com profile] mertuil would probably slap me around for making it :-P
