I have now seen Chicago, and I can understand why people rave about it, especially Richard Gere's suit with the LEDs.

I have now seen Moulin Rouge and I can no longer understand why people rave about it for any reason except costumes.

Robin and Marian was, of course, excellent, but I've seen that one before.

Apparently (says the directors' commentary) the idea was that greatness is chosen by collective decision, and in some weird strained way stuff that was later chosen as great would have to utterly blow the collective Bohemian mind.

This fails to explain why geniuses are generally considered to simply be in bad taste in their own time, but whatever.

I agree, it was done poorly overall. I thought it was the closest to a uniting artistic vision in the whole movie, but that's not saying I liked it.
