Yeah, I think he just meant "short and intense."

Although I think an espresso is a bigger commitment than sex with a stranger. If done right, sex with a stranger will provoke no annoying phone calls. Whereas for me, anyway, espresso is bound to come back to haunt me sooner or later in the form of stomach trouble. :}

But it can't just be six because not all the percentages work. Specifically:

21%
26%
36%
58%
31%
42%
16%
69%

Those don't work very well with any small number of people/opinions. Nineteenths, maybe? But nothing much smaller.

Of course, being Brezsny he might have rated people differently (or let them rate themselves) depending on how much they wanted one goal or another :-)

It's almost certainly rounded, but there's still not much that rounds to that. For instance, it's obviously not thirds, fourths or fifths, even rounded. Sixths would be (approximately) multiples of 16%, and sevenths would be (approximately) of 14%. Doesn't look much like any of those... Eighths would be multiples of 12.5%, so for instance you'd never see the 16% above...

So yes, I was figuring that in.

that's what I was thinking. If you're actually 100% dedicated to something then you get X points but if 2/3rds of you wants deep romance and 1/3rd of you want expresso shots of sex then it's weighed different.

Successive differences:

5% 5% 5% 5% 6% 16% 11%

So the reason I said "nineteenths" is 'cause it looks almost like twentieths, but sometimes it jumps by 6% instead of 5%. If the jump is between 5% and 6% (which it may not be -- he could have interviewed 300 people and just gotten the above by chance, but I doubt it) then you know it's less than twentieths, but more than sixteen-and-two-thirdsths (because that's how many sixes in 100). So he interviewed seventeen, eighteen or nineteen people, or else some multiple of that many.

Step one: pull shot of espresso.
Step two: put in a shallow, wide metal container.
Step three: allow to cool to a comfortably warm, skin temperature.
Step four: Place on rack above array of candles to maintain temperature of espresso.
Step five: retrive chocolate sauce from freezer.
Step six: using a small paint brush, use coffee as a "stain" with which to paint designs on your lover's body. Use chocolate as liberally desired for artistic effect or taste preference.
Step seven: Once over all design is finished, remove from skin with tongue.

Step eight: If you get to this point without having caffine influenced sex? Go back to step six and be sure to take your lover's clothes off before painting.

*eg* Couldn't help myself. May have to expand upon this idea. I mean really... I left out the preperation of the surface, the specific possibilities of garnishes and accents... ;-)
