Oy. There's a guy who used to run a great MUD I played on. It's one of the best I've seen, and good enough that I've specifically given it credit as an inspiration for a lot of what I've done, in several places.

He's offering it to me. Like, "take this and run with it, all yours now" offering it to me. I suppose anything related to programming is so different from being a rock star that this doesn't make much difference to the world at large. But it's a little like if Vonnegut took his latest book and said, "here, I'm not gonna finish this one, knock yourself out."

And I'm turning him down.

What am I smoking?

And I still think it's the right decision.

Dammit.

Running a mud is a special kind of hell I would not wish on my worst enemy. It is entirely thankless, but you probably knew that part already.
