I've missed movie night again, as I do too often.

But I've seen Varekai, the latest Cirque du Soleil show.

It was really, really good. I'd seen Dralion before and this one was definitely better.

Agree with you that Varekai was *way* better than Dralion. Though I'm still listing Quidam as my favorite. Think it has to do with that "first time" glow ;-)

I never saw Quidam. I should find out if it's still possible to do so.

Add me to the agree list. Varekai better than Dralion but not as good as Quidam. And I am also tainted by Quidam being my first. But also, many of the images for the show were based on Magritte and he is my favorite painter. And also, I got to listen to a talk (and ask questions) by the lighting designer after I saw it the first time and before I saw it the second. I don't know if any Cirque is ever going to be able to pass Quidam in my eyes.

Interesting thing about Varekai is that John, the comedic character, and the contortionist that does handbalancing on canes left Quidam for Varekai. I thought I recognized the way the guy with grass in his pants moved. Checking programs confirmed he was the same guy. The Cirque show on Bravo pointed out that Olga left Quidam to be a main character in Varekai (the star-thing turned bride).

If you haven't caught the show Fire Within on Bravo, I highly highly recommend it.

It sounded like Dralion was going to be passing through again but that may have already happened. Maybe Sacramento? After the North American tour, it heads to Europe. Quidam is in Asia right now. Allegria which came out before Quidam in doing a North America tour and San Francisco is on their list. But it doesn't say when. Probably next year. I am looking forward to that one. I have seen bits and pieces on TV and want to experience the show the way it should be seen.
