noahgibbs: Me and my teddy bear at Karaoke after a day of RubyKaigi in HIroshima in 2017 (Default)

Had a communication meeting this morning at work. That means they tell us how things are going. It's pretty boring. But if you're late, they make you compose and read a limerick at the next meeting. Three of us from our team were very late because we'd entirely forgotten there was a meeting.

I now know that given five minutes before the meeting to compose a cute limerick in meter, I can do it. It's still seems pretty goofy to require people to do it.

Last night I received a message from Sarah-the-ex-girlfriend who, as she says of me, I used to date when I was wee (we were, like, 18). We'd been talking about going to dinner and I'd said something about maybe next week. "Now!" she wrote, "Now now now! I want pie!". Sarah writes all kinds of silly happy stuff ("No sushi for kitties, no no no!"). But I called her up and pointed out that I knew a 24-hour pie place. So at 11pm I headed off toward Berkeley to pick her up and go get pie. I had apple-sour-cream pie and she had nectarine mislabelled as peach, which she said was still very good.

Mmm... I like taking off randomly late at night to go get pie. Yay, pie!

Pie is good. Now you should take off randomly late at night and show up on MY doorstep to get pie.

Oof. I'd like to. I haven't been in Pittsburgh for quite awhile, though. I'm not even sure who I'd still be able to find.

Mmmm.... Pie.

Though if it were Pittsburgh I'd probably suggest Eat'n'Park grilled stickies a la mode. People don't seem to like Eat'n'Park, which suggests to me that they've never tried the grilled stickies a la mode :-)

No, people don't like Eat n' Park because grilled stickies a la mode is their ONLY saving grace. Even their toast is bad ;)

I'm not a big toast guy, but their Caesar salads were pretty tolerable, with or without grilled chicken. Their coffee was stereotype bad diner coffee, and they could do milkshakes and pancakes in standard cheap-restaurant fashion. That was most of what I ate, so the fact that they couldn't do a decent pasta or burger to save their collective life didn't bother me.

Well, you could find me, for one. :)

Mm, grilled stickies a la mode are wonderful. I usually don't get them when I go to Eat'n'Park because they are so sweet, I can never finish it (and usually don't have anybody to share it with). EnP does a decent milkshake, too.

Oh yes.

Bad diner-style coffee has it's own charms. I kinda like it...

Me too. I have to be in the mood for it, though.

I never really liked the smiley cookies, except for the fact, that, well, they're smileys. But then, I'm also very picky about cookies.

The best part of the smiley cookies is their deal of "free cookie for a child under 10(?) with purchase of a meal." I ended up getting about 10 free cookies from the time I was visibly pregnant to when Justin was about a year old, just because I could.
