Mar. 9th, 2007 08:59 amTurns out that the FBI has been issuing far more requests for information under the Patriot Act than it claimed, keeping lousy track of the requests, and in many cases having wrong (unauthorized) people sign requests for information for which no investigation is currently pending. In other words, the Patriot Act is being misused exactly how its opponents say it would be, and the Bush administration is doing its best to block audits.
Anybody surprised? Even a little?
