noahgibbs: Me and my teddy bear at Karaoke after a day of RubyKaigi in HIroshima in 2017 (shouting monkey)

For those who care: the piercing trip yesterday was successful. I have a tongue piercing now, which pales in comparison to [livejournal.com profile] xeyda's collection of new holes. She was planning on five, but only got four done.

So how long until I get to make out with you you're allowed to suck face again?

*grin*

I can do a bit of that already, though moving my tongue much is painful. Supposedly full healing takes something like four months.

I'm guessing I'll be able to suck face properly in between two weeks and a month. I expect that [livejournal.com profile] ravenslost will be able to give regular updates, if you want 'em :-)

Mine took about a month before the Bill-the-cat-esque swelling went down completely.
Good for you for getting a tongue piercing, I think anyone who sleeps with women should have one. Myself, I'm sure that part of the reason I proposed to my husband is because he has one.

Heh. Your endorsement was part of the reason I actually went and got it done :-)

Though the "anybody who sleeps with women should have one" wasn't as convincing as you saying you could begin kissing people again more or less immediately :-)

None currently taken, but I may post some if I can get them happening. My digicam died awhile back and I haven't yet managed to successfully resurrect it.

My philosophy is that some things are well worth waiting for . . .

I shall offer my camera services for your tongue, and any other shots you wish to have done. *wink*

I thought tongue piercings were bad for your teeth.

Most dentists I've talked to claim that, yes. Hard pieces of metal constantly bumping around inside your mouth is probably likely to encourage teeth to chip more. Depends on your priorities, I suppose.

Yeah, the metal is absolute hell on enamel, for one. It's a good way to chip your teeth.

My dentist claims that it's fine as long as you go for one with a plastic bottom end-ball thing. While I'm using stainless steel during the healing process, I plan to switch to that when infection isn't such a big deal any more.

Have been having a lot of ice water, and taking acetomenophen. It's been a good start :-)

But yeah, thanks, I will!

Yay!

I love tongue piercings=) I've tried to convince [livejournal.com profile] urbanbard to get one, but he claims that not being able to preach the gospel clearly is a problem for him. I claim that you can talk within a week and clear plastic balls work wonders on the visibility aspect. I think he's just a wuss.

I'm not a terribly great healer, but on mine the swelling went down within a few days and it was only a couple weeks until I was totally able to speak, eat, drink, kiss, lick, etc. So wishes for a speedy recovery:)

And, uh, let me know when you're fully operational;) *giggle*

Will do!

So far, I can talk with mine if I'm willing to do a Sean Connery voice :-)

Remember me rinsing my mouth out with high salinity salt water after the dental surgery? Salt water is good for wounds in the mouth as a rule. Wouldn't know how it affects peircings off hand... but it could be a help.

Yeah. I picked up some sea salt at the piercer's recommendation and haven't been using it (though I've been using listerine). I should do so.
