To join this community, click the "to join this community, click here" link in the text up top, above the little picture icons. If you just add the community to your friends list, you still won't be able to see any posts. And that would suck.

For the various ones of you (there are, like, six or eight currently) that missed this, but are reading my journal -- fix it. Fix it fix it fix it. I've also emailed you or left comments in your journal.

This is one of those things I think the LJ interface should point out to you rather than making me do it :-)

I believe I fixed that last month.

But then, perhaps you're not talking about me.

You don't appear to be one of the problem folks, no. If you were, you'd have gotten email or an LJ comment by now.

We might bring a minor (very minor) kid. So are legal-to-f*ck but not yet legal-to-drink folks OK? We also have relatives in town, and some of those relatives are in the 19-20 age range.

It's in the invitation. I'm fine with infants if they're with a parent or guardian -- that's not gonna get a teacher in trouble. I'm fine with people who are 18-20 (and, obviously, fine with people 21+). It's only a problem if any teachers present (such as a girl I'm currently dating) would be forced to leave, report the goings-on, or risk losing his or her whole career.

19-20 is fine, because at that point the kid in question is his or her own legal guardian. A teacher (not necessarily the teacher of the 19-to-20-year-old) who watches them involved in DHP antics isn't violating professional ethics.

I'd actually be *fine* with inviting 16- and 17-year-olds if it wasn't for the deal with teachers. I think it'd be good for them, as long as we made it clear to the various regular leches who attend (me included) that the people in question are absolutely not legal, so the flirting stays a tad tamer :-)

What about old farts?

Haven't joined the community yet because I'm still just lurking at most blogs and trying to get my "sea legs" (recently divorced) - DH sounds interesting, and I live in Fremont, making it convenient. But I'm concerned that having a mostly unknown 50+ guy show up could be a problem. Whadya think?

You're more than welcome to show up. Not a problem, it's open invitation. You're not gonna stop other people from having a good time. You may find that the crowd's a little young for your taste, but that's your problem, not mine :-)

And joining the LJ community certainly doesn't obligate you to do anything else.

Thanks.

And I wasn't thinking about any obligation, just wanting to understand the community a bit before participating - an old BBS & usenet courtesy. My given reason was entirely irrelevant.
