Oct. 31st, 2020 10:13 amThe winter baking season has begun. The Tupperware creaks and groans, the fridge is nearly full but not yet bursting. There are also various leftovers like a creamy winter-vegetable soup. Scottish vegetables tend wintery, at least if you're used to California.
It turns out you can deep-fry your own noodles and make really good haystack cookies. I'm not sure it's worth the effort for you Americans -- but crispy chow mien noodles aren't a thing you can buy here, so we have to survive with the good stuff. We're mostly going to need to do chocolate haystacks rather than butterscotch haystacks, though. It's surprisingly hard to get butterscotch chips in the UK. But they're really good with the fried noodles!
