Wow. So, in Maryland you can't directly sue your insurance company for just not paying out an underinsured motorist policy. You have to sue the underinsured motorist for (your) insurance not paying, and then move on to the insurance company.

Somebody did this with Progressive, after their daughter died and the killer's insurance had already paid to the extent he was insured. Progressive sent lawyers to defend their customer's killer to avoid paying their customer's policy.
