misternihil just pointed me at an excellent little article called Inside the Monkeysphere, about limits on how many people you can usefully know and socialize with. It's written in a silly style, but there's still a lot of good information there.

I'm also really, really happy that the same guy who wrote that article wrote a horror novel titled "John Dies at the End". No, really.
