noahgibbs: Me and my teddy bear at Karaoke after a day of RubyKaigi in HIroshima in 2017 (choo-choo (dzaa!))
Some of my relationships wind up looking like my older relationships, more or less, if I'd taken a few turns differently.

So far, I do better as time goes by in every case, even though I still frequently fail. That's progress, I guess.

No, this isn't specifically and only about you. No, neither of you. No, not you either. It's a general pattern I've noticed, so you should all act offended.

This week, Brezsny tells the Gemini:

our horoscope this week is brought to you by Wendell Berry's poem, "Manifesto: The Mad Farmer Liberation Front," which appeared in his book, The Country of Marriage. Thanks to Mr. Berry for his generous grant of soul power. It's the perfect gift for you during your unbirthday season, when you have a mandate to go against the grain and against the flow. Here's an excerpt from Berry's poem. "Friends, every day do something that won't compute. Love someone who does not deserve it. Denounce the government and embrace the flag. Give your approval to all you cannot understand. Ask the questions that have no answers. Put your faith in the two inches of humus that will build under the trees every thousand years. Laugh. Be joyful though you have considered all the facts. Practice resurrection."

Fair enough, Rob. I can use it.

This week, Dan Savage's column has a one-time guest co-writer. Turns out she's pretty good. Go read it.

I'm mostly done with Christmas shopping. This is mainly because I'm a bastard, and avoid exchanging gifts with most people. Luckily, I'm also fairly tough to buy for so that looks vaguely merciful :-)

If you're planning to exchange gifts with me, this might be a merciful time to mention it... Y'know, before I'd have to go brave the Great Mall on the 23rd of December or something ;-)
