Yup, that's what I wanted to know!
Apr. 6th, 2004 11:01 amI recently posted to a friend's journal to ask him about Latter Days, the second-to-last collection of Cerebus. The interesting thing about it from my point of view was that in his Biblical commentary, Dave Sim was separating out God from YHWH as characters, which I had never seen before, and it made for some neat reinterpretations of the stories. Dave Sim's a pretty good storyteller and he can write convincing characters, but I'd never seen much else to suggest he was a brilliant Biblical scholar -- dedicated, but not brilliant. So I was curious where the hell he got that, because it's a *really* neat idea.
Turns out that he got it from the Gnostics, and it's old news. If you click the link above, you'll see a post from a fellow describing that in more detail. I don't recognize his handle offhand. But hey, thanks, anonymous guy on LJ!
