Apr. 21st, 2003 01:09 pmI've had a decidedly injury-prone week and a half. A week ago Thursday was the motorcycle oopsie, and I've been dealing with the ugly-but-not-serious skinned knee for a bit. Unfortunately, scabs tend to saturate and go away in the shower, which was irritating, and I hit it very hard by accident a short time ago. So my knee just hasn't been all that happy :-( The joint's fine, but the skin overtop is *not* my friend at the moment.
I got a couple of nasty, small, shallow cuts while assembling shed bits. It's a problem with screwing metal screws into steel framework based on guide holes -- you wind up with a lot of metal shavings and a lot of sharp bits of steel just waiting for errant hands. I hate little cuts in the lines of your hand because you can't really band-aid them, the sweat and grime gets in them, and the skin around them bends constantly... :-(
My resolution for the next week or two: bleed less.

I've made a pass through the house and thrown out anything waiting -- it's not just garbage night, it's garbage night before the party and that means I need to make sure the house is extra-empty. Next week's gonna be full regardless. I'm already planning the shopping trip for later this week when I pick up more supplies. Why have these parties worked themselves so seamlessly into my routine when so many other things still seem like impositions?
I'm gonna make a point of having breakfast stuff stocked. I don't know if anybody will be around Sunday morning after the party, but if so then I'm going to have to make stuffed croissant french toast for them. And possibly biscuits, since I need to try out that recipe. You've all been warned :-)

One thing I hear bemoaned occasionally (though less often these days) is a lack of good sex-related vocabulary. Too much of it is heavily stigmatized, too much of it is "dirty", too much of it can't be used in serious company, even in the rare instances where the concept is basically acceptable.
So, LJ-cut for your pleasure and work-safety, a simple replacement system for the word "dating". It seems to work decently.

You know who you are -- you used to own that Neon, not a vehicle I usually think of as having "intercourse" written all over it :-) E-mail me and tell me whether you'd let me describe that system in this forum.
