Cirque du Soleil's Alegria will be in San Francisco from early November to early December. Tickets go on sale to the public on June 18th. People like me, who give them their email address and get into the silly Cirque Club thing can start buying them right now.

November. I can't plan my life that far ahead. Maybe I'll get the tickets now and just worry about who to go with when it's closer to happening.

Oh, and for Dan Savage fans: apparently Ashton Kutcher actually reads his column and even wrote back to Dan. The column this week (I read it in the Onion AV Club, which comes out a bit earlier than The Stranger or RSS) has more details.

Hrmph. I haven't gotten that e-mail yet. And I'd so plan a year ahead for a Cirque show. I'm a little crazy like that. Ok, I'm also that organized.

Oh, excellent. I'll have to be sure to get tickets.

I'm figuring Cirque tickets will be a Good Thing even if I'm not dating anyone that I currently am, or anyone at all, for that matter.

I'll have to figure out if I want to get the VIP tickets or not, though.

On the one hand, the little tent thing you get with VIP tickets is mixed -- the food and drink are decent (or better), but it's overall not worth the hour you spend, at least compared to the show.

On the other hand, best seats in the house.

But you can just buy the best seats in the house on their own. A certain number of them are reserved for VIP ticket-holders, but that just means you should buy tickets before everyone else. :-) I've been both a VIP ticket holder seated right next to non-VIP ticket holders, and a non VIP Ticket holder seated right next to a VIP ticket holder.

Awww, forget the whole date thing. For Cirque, I gather a like minded group of friends and get tickets. Much less stress.

The problem there is that I have to get a bunch of friends to commit to what they'll be doing in November, and do it now. It's much easier to go with a date because I'm only paying for one ticket besides my own, and it's usually pretty easy to find somebody else willing to go with me.

Once the number of people hits, say, six, that gets a lot harder. I've tried this deal with a houseboat trip, and I was just lucky I knew an appropriate group of people with time on their hands.

Tis true that herding a group of friends is difficult. The benefits I have is that there are a few that I have gone to the last three shows with, there is a peckle of birthdays at the beginning of Nov, and we usually buy tickets much closer to the event and sit higher up. We'll see if this advance notice changes anything. I sent out an inquiring email before I read your journal.

What I would like a date to is Zumanity. I found the info on that and it does look good and the descriptions of the seating is very nice. The duo sofas in the somewhat isolated areas look quite yummy. Fantasy fodder. Maybe next year's vacation will be a week in Las Vegas to catch all the Cirques.

Mmm... Zumanity. I'm gonna give them some time to stop being sold out way in advance before going, though.

I *highly* recommend O.

My plan is to see Mystere, wait a few days, see O, wait a few days then Zumanity. Ok the wait might be one day inbetween both. I figure a week trip. Now to figure out what to do with the inbetween days.

How far ahead is Zumanity sold out?

Dunno. Haven't checked. It hasn't even opened yet, though (I think), so I'm figuring it'll be hard to get into for awhile.

I tried to find out what is available for kicks and grins but you have to be a mailing list subscriber. You sign up and then wait for an email to check out tickets. But of course they aren't going to send you an email until the next time they have something to announce. Bah.
